Alone in the Dark 2 is the sequel to 1992's survival horror video game Alone in the Dark developed and published by Infogrames.
Frederick Raynal left the development team, after he was fired.
Plot[]
Three months after Alone in the Dark, Edward Carnby is now a private eye specialized in supernatural cases. When Ted Stryker, his partner, was investigating the kidnapping of the young Grace Saunders (the protagonist of Jack in the Dark, a short spin-off/promotional game) he disappear in stranges circonstances. Edward decides to pick up the trail that leads to an old mansion named Hell's Kitchen.
Gameplay[]
The original's horror theme has been significantly de-emphasized in this sequel, focusing more on action and reflexes than exploration and puzzle solving. The game world is also larger than that of the original, encompassing not only a mansion, but also it's surrounding gardens as well as caverns beneath the house.
Trivia[]
- The game was re-released in 1996, on the Sony Playstation and the Sega Saturn, in order to compete with the success of Capcom's Resident Evil.
